Runaway Rockstar - Kylie Scott

Swoon! Nash is a famous rockstar hiding from his life when he approaches his old housekeeper Audrey to give him a place to take a breath. Audrey’s granddaughter June is also staying, and Nash and June hit it off from the beginning. There are real challenges to face, but this is breezy and funny and tongue in cheek from the start. Nash is VERY famous, and his record company (and his ex) are on the scent, and they want him back to sign a new contract. Meantime June has recently broken up with her live-in boyfriend so she’s hurting and doubting herself. Throw in Nash’s snarly brother and Audrey’s ex and there are plenty of feelings and mistrust to navigate.

I adore everything about Runaway Rockstar! Kylie Scott keeps the plot tight – the setting is small town, timeline is short, characters are busy, chemistry is fiery and the love comes quickly. Perfect!

The banter between Nash and June is terrific. I love how rarely Nash answers June’s questions – he disarms her by showing what he thinks is important - he is relentlessly optimistic and determined to trust the good in June. June in turn is lovely – she’s loyal, organised and open to all the silliness and the joy that comes with being with Nash, even when fame has downsides. A teeny third-act hiccup makes their romance feel earnt, and I know they will be great together in their happily-ever-after.

If you have read Kylie's Stage Dive series, you'll know what to expect. If not, you are in for a treat! Thanks so much Kylie Scott for the ARC. Opinions are my own.
